I must remember to not read this while I'm at work...I'll soon be fired for laughing/crying/wetting my pants.
When Luke asked me several times "Mommy why are you laughing so hard" I find it hard to tell him the truth, that I am laughing at Uncle Jimmy pooping because that would bring up several more questions in the curious mind of a three year old. I think this story may beat the dog story!!! It was definitly a great read and very entertaining! You are a very talented writing a story teller. Can't wait to read more...Jen
Dog story? Bring on the dog story?
A friend pointed me to this post and I love her for it. I was in hysterics laughing and crying. Thank you for the giggle!
As a father of 2 boys (the oldest is 4 years old and the youngest is 11 months), I too have felt the pain and fear you have described...well done sir, well done. Your writing reminds me of Bill Bryson.
Making me laugh this hard has to be against the law, Jim you do now how to spin a tale, thank you for this picture in my mind before I go to sleep, I am sure I will have pleasant dreams and visions of your trip to the grocery store with the girls
So funny! I am also an "English Teacher" that never was. There are no teaching jobs in Michigan, either. I have two daughters and stayed home with them when they were very young and full of devastating honesty. You took me right back to those years. I'm adding you to my google reader!
Actually, a version of this story happens every time he goes to the grocery store!
OMG I just did somrhing similar yesterday. While walking the strip in Vegas with the kids it hit me. I had to stop and just talke a moment but I didn't notice that I stopped I front of the naughty mag stand. My 7yr old boy was glad to be standing there. I had no idea you have a blog. I live it and it's Noe in my google reader!!!!!
Thank goodness for the family bathroom right
i took the day off today so i could finish my finals! Then i logged on and a friend directed me to your blog and i got completely sidetracked! LOVE your stories! thank god it's finals today so i can spend more time on here! I needed a good laugh and cry apparently!
First I need an apology! Your apparent knack at writing has awoken my sleeping babe at approximately 11:44 pm. This is all due to the loud, annoying and tearful laughter that I could no longer hold back while reading your blog! Ok, apology accepted. And thanks, I need that!:)
I have to think of you now every time I go to the grocery store.
too funny! I feel for you.I actually *have* held a baby in my lap, while cramming the other kids into the stall w/me. ak! and don't get me started on those stupid car-carts that make my kids cry every time we go to the store, b/c i won't use it to shop.
